The Very Hungry Caterpillar Court Street Mission Team at Boys and Girls Club. Cookies, Mission Team’s Joyful Visit to the Boys and Girls Club of Greater Lynchburg

Last month, the Mission Team from Court Street UMC had the pleasure of visiting the Boys and Girls Club of Greater Lynchburg. It was an experience filled with joy, laughter, and community spirit. Our mission was simple yet profound: to share story time with the children, spread smiles, and create cherished memories.

Bringing a Beloved Story to Life

We chose to read “The Very Hungry Caterpillar” by Eric Carle, a timeless classic that never fails to captivate young minds. To make the story even more engaging, Anne Langley dressed up as the very hungry caterpillar while one of the children donned wings and brought the butterfly to life. This interactive storytelling approach not only entertained the kids but also encouraged their active participation and imagination.

A Feast for the Senses

No story time is complete without some delightful treats. Our mission team members provided fruit snacks, adorable plates, and napkins that complemented the story’s theme. To add a special touch, cookies were baked and decorated to depict various parts of the story. The children were thrilled with the snacks and eagerly took part in the interactive story, making the session even more memorable.

Looking Forward
