We’re excited to announce the launch of The Fold, a new dinner church service at Court Street UMC, designed for those seeking a different approach to worship and community. Whether you’re new to the area, looking to reconnect with your faith, or just curious about exploring something new, The Fold is a space for you.
So, what is The Fold?
At its heart, The Fold is a weekly gathering for a meal, worship, and conversation. It’s more than just a service—it’s a chance to build meaningful connections and find a place to belong. We break bread, share in unplugged, contemporary worship, and dive into thought-provoking messages that challenge and inspire us to grow in our faith.
What You Can Expect at The Fold:
- A Shared Meal: We begin each service with a family-style meal, giving everyone a chance to connect, relax, and get to know one another.
- Unplugged Worship: Experience contemporary worship in a cozy, welcoming environment. It feels intimate and personal, and everyone is invited to engage.
- Inspiring Messages: Each week, we’ll explore faith through messages designed to speak to your life and your journey. Whether you’re new to faith or have been walking the path for years, we hope these messages will resonate with you.
- A Place to Belong: The Fold is a community where you can feel at home, whether you’ve been hurt by the church in the past or are looking for something new. Our tagline, “You can sit with us,” reflects our deep commitment to inclusivity and welcome.
Why “The Fold”?
The name The Fold reflects our vision for a community where everyone can belong. Like sheep being brought into a fold, we gather together to find safety, belonging, and nourishment for our body and souls. Here, you are invited to believe, belong, and become—all at your own pace.
While The Fold may seem like a new type of service, it’s really bringing us back to the heart of the early church. In the time of the apostles, believers gathered in house churches and small gatherings, breaking bread together and sharing stories about Jesus. The intimacy, fellowship, and sense of community found in those early church gatherings is exactly what we’re striving to recreate in The Fold. It’s a space to rediscover faith and relationships in a more personal, connected way—just like the early followers of Jesus did.
Who’s Invited?
Everyone is welcome! We’re particularly excited to reach out to all the new people moving to downtown Lynchburg who are exploring their faith and seeking authentic community. If you’re new to town, curious about church, or looking for a space to grow spiritually, The Fold is for you.

We are kicking off with a dinner church test run on Sunday, October 27th at 5:00 PM, and we invite you to come to experience it firsthand! Our official first service will be held on Sunday, November 3rd at 5:00 PM.

- What to Bring: Just yourself and maybe a friend! No need to dress up —come as you are, ready to connect.
