Hymn Selections at Court Street UMC
Are you excited to Count Down the Top Hymns?!
At Court Street UMC, music has always been a cherished part of our worship experience. Since 1989, we have diligently kept track of the hymns we sing each Sunday and for other special services. This commitment to recording our musical journey has resulted in a unique and rich historical document within our hymnals, where dates and hymn selections have been meticulously written week after week—3,754 times, to be precise.
As you can imagine, over the past 35 years, some of the pages in our hymnals have become quite full. This detailed log is more than just a list of hymns; it’s a testament to our congregation’s love for music and the role it plays in our worship and spiritual life.
Recently, our summer intern undertook the monumental task of compiling all this information into a digital spreadsheet. This project was not only about preserving our history but also about creating a valuable resource for our pastor and music team. Now, they can easily access this data to help make informed hymn selections each week, ensuring a harmonious blend of tradition and inspiration in our services.
