Souper Bowl Challenge Update

At Court Street UMC, we’re thrilled to provide an exciting update on our Souper Bowl Challenge! As the countdown to the big game continues, our congregation has shown incredible generosity and support for a cause close to our hearts: Meals on Wheels Greater Lynchburg.

In the spirit of friendly competition, members of our community have been contributing to the Souper Bowl Challenge by pledging donations based on their team allegiance. So far, 49ers fans have raised $55, while Chiefs fans have rallied together and raised an impressive $298. Together, we’ve already reached a total of $353!

While the rivalry between the 49ers and the Chiefs adds an element of fun to our challenge, the true winners of our fundraiser are the individuals and families served by Meals on Wheels Greater Lynchburg. This incredible organization provides vital assistance to homebound seniors and individuals with disabilities by delivering nutritious meals and offering invaluable companionship.

1. Nutritional Support: For many of our neighbors, Meals on Wheels provides their only access to nutritious meals. By supporting this organization, we’re helping ensure that vulnerable members of our community receive the nourishment they need to stay healthy and independent.
2. Social Connection: In addition to delivering meals, Meals on Wheels volunteers provide meaningful social interaction and companionship to recipients who may otherwise feel isolated. Their visits offer comfort, companionship, and a sense of community, fostering a stronger support network for those in need.
3. Independence and Dignity: By enabling individuals to age in place and remain in their own homes, Meals on Wheels promotes independence and preserves the dignity of aging adults and individuals with disabilities. This simple act of kindness has a profound impact on the lives of those it serves.
